Shiny DIY

Although in close-up they aren showing the signs of age. Got round to fixing up some bathroom fittings we've had for ages. Very therapeutic drilling and screwing and whatnot.

Had a fiddle with customising my windows experience, had to do loads of .dll swapping taking ownership of files, restarting etc. but it's definitely getting better.

Other than that making chips was about the most exciting thing I did. They were nice chips, made from cyprus potatoes, soaked in water first then twice fried in two small batches in a combination of rapeseed oil and beef dripping, once at a low bubble for about 9 minutes and once at a high bubble for about 3 minutes. Unfortunately I don't have a thermometer to get the best temperature for the two fries but they were still nice. A bit of internet research has led me to the conclusion that whilst i like the idea of making chips with the skins on it actually prevents the formation of a fully crisp outer layer so i will be peeling the next lot. And increasing the ratio of beef dripping and possible considering throwing the goose fat that is left over from christmas in the pan.

Taking a leaf out of Stewart's journal I'm going to start documenting my musical affectations for the day.
