Robin Barclay - one a day

High tide on Hoswick Beach

The kids' packing for their flight back to Edinburgh this afternoon, with Pat, was interrupted by Janet bringing Sammy to meet Cammie - and we took both dogs to the beach, where the high tide covered the sand and just the quartz pebbles were out. The dogs had not met yet on this trip because Cammie is now a bit arthritic - but they got on fine and seemed to remember each other (Sammy has been inspecting our car each time we go to Noness, expecting Cammie to emerge). The torrential rain of yesterday is over, but the burn's access to the beach has completely changed - a big trough through the shingle along the cliff (I had expected it not to take the corner but to cut right through the shingle bank, but it didn't). The sea will put it all back as it wants it in winter.
