St. James's Park: Pelican Feeding Time

More excited in large ("L").

This is the pelican family leaving the pond at feeding time (2:30-3:00PM) at St. James's Park. This one sprung out of the water and flapped/bounded over so enthusiastically! The man who feeds them has an amazing job: he threw and handed them various whole fish, and the four pelicans accepted them very eagerly and were quite a spectacle.

My blip alternative would have been one of my pictures of the Ross's geese: they're so sweet (microgeese), and their little lowing noise is almost painfully cute.

I had an excellent time by the pond this afternoon, so have uploaded quite a selection of shots (right from here), including a series from the pelican feeding.

Highlights:

Ross's geese: little one looking forlorn & eating together
Pigeons eating from visitors's hands: (1) & (2)
Picturesque heron
Handsome herring gull
Wigeons: male in eclipse plumage & female
