Dog Jumping

After a great morning of volleyball, my last for a couple of weeks, I stopped by the bunch of tents down the beach from the courts. It turned out to be some kind of dog event, with the highlight being a dog jumping contest. The dogs run off an astroturf deck and attempt to leap as far as possible into the pool. This particular entry came all the way from Orem, Utah - an eleven hour drive according to the announcer. He leaped around 15 feet in the best of his two jumps. The leader, while I was watching anyway, landed in the pool just shy of 20 feet from the deck. The dogs looked like they were having a ton of fun and the audience was very appreciative, applauding loudly for every effort.
