Argens Minervois, on the Canal du Midi, on a sunny autumn day. Quick blip on the way home from a meeting.

Yesterday evening was the much-anticipated annual bunfight at the Centre Culturel. We were there for the presentation of the new season, along with about 300 other people, but the food and wine are a non-negligible attraction too.

After the buffet, we watched a jazzed-up performance of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Molière winning Alexis Michalik.  It was performed by three actors -- two men and a woman -- playing all the parts, using scenery that was basically three wardrobes containing the various clothes. Often they would switch characters by simply getting changed on stage, sometimes in mid-sentence. It was full of energy, humour, and passion, and really well done. So we'll be booking for his new show, Le Cercle des Illusionistes.
