Penmon Lighthouse

It was a bit of a grey day today, but that wasn't go to stop the Gruesome Twosome from going out with our cameras. We headed for Beaumaris hoping that the forecast was wrong and it would stay dry...someone 'up there' liked us as we might have had grey clouds, but they were just blown out to sea. We had a wander up and down the pier and watched the crabbers...I was tempted to buy some crabbing gear and have a go but Chrissie wasn't keen. We compromised and went to the teashop instead...I'm easily swayed ha ha ha. The teashop was delightful, it has featured on The Hairy Bikers and in magazines.

Fortified we then wandered around taking more pics...and sneaked in a cheeky ice cream too...then we decided to go to Penmon Lighthouse. I had only seen it from a boat but it was quite exciting to get up close. The tide was quite a way out but crashing it's way back in. We clambered over the exposed rocks to take pics. The light was a bit flat and we did the best we could...whilst keeping an eye on the water level.

As the sun was setting we decided to sit and wait on the beach to see the light beam. We waited for an hour or so and collected a few pebbles, the beam wasn't exciting enough and it was getting chilly and very dark...and I needed to powder my nose desperately....so we thought we would head back to Cemaes and have fish and chips. With stomachs rumbling we drove back in the pitch dark along empty roads. By the time we arrived back, parked the car and walked round to the shop it had closed!! Aaaargh!
