To the beach

We took the Brownies to the beach this afternoon and like always when we have something planned it rained ! It was ok but would have been much nicer if the sun was shining like it was for most of the day.

Verity from the beach café ran a really interesting session about the rocks on the beach. A great geology lesson so many different rocks can be seen along the beach from the red sand stone to granite and other stones brought down in the ice age.

We found the rocks shaped like a piano and stool and this picture here shows the whale and baby. The Brownies had the opportunity to name two of the other rocks and hopefully when the new leaflets are produced the new names will be on there.
We finished the session with an icecream each. The café is going to be open at the weekends during the Winter which is great as a warming soup or hot chocolate always goes down a treat :)
