Final flowers

I took another stroll round the orchard today but the birds were more elusive than yesterday or at least quicker than I was. There's a definite chill in the air and pipeman still needs to put the bathroom radiator back in before we can refill the radiators and use the stove.
This part of our field was populated by many young pines when we came here at first. I ploughed it and harrowed it for two years before we started planting the orchard. Quite a lot of the apple trees are still hanging on in spite of everything. In the areas which I left the trees in they have grown a lot and already there is a reddish carpet of pine needles with the occasional ant hill. Bison grass seems have taken hold in some places.
