I bee in heaven

There are, apparently, 4000 species of native bees in USA. This is just one of them.

I was seated in a quiet corner of a fairly busy plaza, watching a group of plants, camera trained patiently.

And I was rewarded. We get these delightful tiny Halictid bees in Australia, but I've never seen one as beautiful as this.

The Halictidae is a very diverse group of bees–Most nest in the ground, although some of the metallic green or blue species nest in rotting wood. This family includes important pollinators of alfalfa seed crops, commercial sunflowers,
and watermelons. The family gets its common name from a few species that are attracted to human sweat for its salt content.
