Telford's Bridge

Thomas Telford, he of the Ironbridge fame, designed a bridge for the A5 road at Betws-Y-Coed. he had a bit of history designed into it. The inscription says that the bridge was constructed the same year that the battle of Waterloo was won.

It could have been a precedent for other examples of infrastructure with historical events inscribed. But I don't know of any.

I think I will paint on my back garden fence that it was erected the same year that Wiggo won the Tour de France. (Yes, it was put up in 2012).
