At this time of year the sun strikes in exactly the right place - and these birds, colourful at the best of times, take on another dimension.

Yet, you know, it's amazing how they disappear into the foliage, despite their bright colours.

The cold is gathering strength - I think I shall take to my bed very early tonight.
