My Life in A&E

By gilvratina

After a comparatively relaxed morning, we went to the airport and got on our plane to Sardinia.

It was a good flight with lots to look at, including Venice......which was interesting because although I have been there, I wouldn't necessarily have known what looked like from above.....and some of the sort of "pre-alps". Pretty cool.

Met Liz and picked up our hire car at Cagliari Airport and immediately headed north. After about 3.5 latterly hairy hours driving, we reached the sleepy town of San Pantaleo, just north of Olbia on the Costa Smeralda.

We had reserved a table in the hotel restaurant, which turned out to be rather posher than I had anticipated and we ate a starter of fish which contained octopus, ray(?), mullet and other fishy delights.

We had Sardinian canayli wine with our fish and some dessert wine with our pudding (obviously) which is a rare treat. It was all rather splendid.

The hotel is lovely - we have a balcony. The most exciting thing is that I have no idea what it looks like outside because it was so dark when we arrived - although the final few kilometres were pretty hairy! We'll see in the morning....
