Sheffield Pink

The is the name of these relatives of the chrysanthemum. It they are better suited to a warmer growing zone (yours?) The plant is hardy through our long and snowy winters yet the flowers take a long time to develop and finally bloom. Then the killing frost gets them.
This lot came as a cutting from a friend in the mountains of North Carolina where they were blooming like crazy. Our summer is simply too short for them (or me).
Because of our very long warm summer and autumn this 2014 the blip shows the most blooms ever since it has lived here in 2009.
Tonight I cut most of them for the house because we will get a hefty frost tonight and the beginning of the snow season will start soon.

[Garden Note: 19th or 20th of October the end of Indian Summer and the cleaning/packing of the first crop of (rare) Swamp milkweed seeds to send to a nursery for propagation.]
