Under the Weather in All Respects

Dear Diary,

Our third day of wind and rain and general dreariness and I wake up with a cold. So the picture is complete. This photograph sums it all up. Stuck inside, behind the screens that catch the raindrops in shiny droplets. These small prisms of light reflect the yellow of the few leaves left on the honey locust outside.

I have to brave the storm and go out for some much needed provisions (and a bit of cold medicine as well) and I'm not looking forward to it. But this photograph does show the little spots of beauty that can still be found in the dreariest of days. I'll try to hold onto John Ruskin's words today...

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.

-John Ruskin
