Look at the front

This is a detail of the auxiliary feedwaterpump of unit EC20.
The pump is on standby because the main pump (which is driven by a steamturbine) is in service.
This pump is the same as the main pump, except the way it is driven.
The electric motor has a power of 8000 KiloWatts, (appr 10700 Horsepower), thus ensures a capacity of 60% of the main pump.
So this pump is used at start-up and as an emergency at the main pump occurs.
On this picture a detail of lubricating oil pipes, sensors for temperaturemeasurement of the bearings and vibrations and the isolated feedwaterpipes which lead to the boiler.
In the back: handwheels for shutvalves, only used when the pump is stopped for maintenance as extra safety.
Actually each feedwaterpump consists of two pumps on one shaft.
