Normally through this pipe a flow of 8000 litres of seawater per second is going...
Now it is empty, so a good opportunity to show you the inside with a "ball strainer" in the outlet of the condensor.
The titanium pipes in the condensor have the disadvantage that a thin layer of slime is formed on the inside surface.
The sand in the cooling water does not brush that off.
So: we pump sponge balls through the cooling system and with these strainers (which are in open position now) we catch the balls in the outlet of the condensor.
Through the small pipes on the photo the balls are lead to a special pump which brings them back to the front of the condensor; back in the coolingwaterflow.
