Happy Birthday Richard

It's Richards 25th Birthday today so we went to Couper Creek in Cromarty for lunch. We had Cauliflower and cheese soup and Ashlene and Richard shared a salmon and red onion panini and a Tain Cheese and pickle Panini having half each. I tried a bit of both, the salmon was the best, The milkshakes looked really good too and were served in a milk bottle with a straw.
Luckily the rain stopped and we managed to go for a quick walk, We were hoping to go in the Cheese shop and the Old court House but both are shut on a Monday and Tuesday.
Pictured here is Hugh Millers Cottage. Hugh Miller was a famous fossil collector, a geologist, a stone mason, writer, folklorist and an evangelical Christian. He was born in Cromarty, in this 17th Century cottage. It now holds a museum about his life and works and has a very pretty cottage garden named Lydia after his wife.
The roof has recently been rethatched and it was interesting watching it being done a few years ago.
We walked through some of the narrow streets. It's a really quirky place with a surprise round each corner. We noticed one sunflower in full bloom growing out of a brick in a wall, a pumpkin on a table still surrounded in sweets. I'm sure in any other place the pumpkin would have disappeared as well as the sweets.

Richard made a delicious chilli with some garlic bread.
