San Felipe de Austin

Today I met fellow Blipper TrudieK, who had kindly prepared a whole route to show me the countryside and some historic sites. First we went to San Felipe de Austin, the first Anglo-American settlement in Texas, established by Stephen F. Austin (yes, the town Austin was called after him), the 'Father of Texas". This log cabin sits on the site where it all started, it's one of the 20 Texas State Historic Sites.

We then continued to Sealy, Belville and Brenham to see their historic centres. Of course today was also Election Day in the USA. It was very obvious that Texas is a Republican State, but I never knew there were this few Democrats in the State, judging from the size of their headquarters in Waller County

Thanks very much for your comments on yesterday's butterfly Blip ! I will try to have some time for comments tomorrow
