Wanderings & Witterings

In Remembrance

There were just a few wreaths placed around the War Memorial in Longcroft when I passed this afternoon. In addition, about a dozen small crosses had been planted in the surrounding grounds, some with very poignant descriptions of, and epitaphs to, loved ones lost in various conflicts over the past 100 years. There were also a few simple poppy-bedecked crosses with the simple inscription "In Remembrance".

This one seemed to be placed in its own little space with no others in the immediate vicinity, though in truth not too far away. A day for remembering those who didn't return and also those who did, their lives changed for ever. A day for remembering those who stayed at home, worked and waited and whose lives were also changed by the experience.
