Lunch at the Bull

Today I had lunch with former colleagues at The Bull in Wargrave. This is an event that happens probably twice a year. We all used to work in Aberdeen but the others are now in the South East of England. It is good to get together from time to time. One of these former colleagues has a place in Italy, and the last time we met up was in Lenno when he was en route to England at the end of the summer.

Wargrave is a small village on the River Thames a couple of miles from Twyford, the name Wargrave is derived from 'Weir-Grove', rather than War Grave as the name would suggest.. The village dates back to medieval times. The pub itself is a 15th century former coaching inn , though to my uninformed eye would not appear as old as that. We are assured it is haunted by a previous (19th century) landlady. We were told she is to be found in the gentlemen's toilet. During my visit to this part of the building she did not put in an appearance.
