Wind Advisory

The palms are whistling
fine dust is airborne over
all of the valley

Somehow I missed this in the weather report. I woke to rattling and banging noise, most unlike our neighbourhood. The wind was up and already causing the palms to bend and rattle their fronds. They make sounds much like the evergreens do when the wind howls around them. The palms rustle and whistle giving the impression of a huge velocity of air moving.

We ventured out for a late breakfast. A drive to the end of Foothills Drive gave us a good indication of the work the wind out of the north was doing. Normally, we would have a clear view of the Gila Mountains. Not today. A look in any direction showed the sand is on the move.

The lone palm tree is not a palm tree. It is a cell tower for mobile telephones. The thin disguise is somewhat amusing. The fronds actually wave in the wind, especially today.
