Definitely the icing on the cake when the paint goes on. All the preparation and repairs ahead of time don't really change much until the coat of paint has dried. Our painter arrived just after 9 and has worked all day. I had forgotten that she chews 'snoose'. I saw an empty tin in the garbage.

We had rain today. That's always worth noting when you are in the desert. That doesn't happen very often. It made all the birds hide in the bushes and trees but they were singing away quite happily all the while.

Meanwhile, back at home, a police officer has been shot just 4 blocks from my house. The search is on for a suspect. Roads are closed. My neighbourhood has been locked down. Schools have kept students inside all day. Air travel has been delayed. A helicopter has been in the air searching the area. It is a pretty serious matter. A make of vehicle and a license plate number have been circulated.
