Cappadocia

The 'fairy castle' landscape of Cappadocia in central Turkey. The surface rock consists of layered volcanic ash deposits & is very soft like chalk. This area was colonised by early Christians who built warrens of caves and even underground cities. The whole place is riddled with tunnels, many unexplored. Many are blocked with the huge round stones of biblical lore.
