Left one behind

After work today, I ran to Western Springs Lake. Got in my run and saw lots of birds.

One of the first photos to consider was of a goose pair with two small goslings. As I was about to go a small boy was shown the goslings by his parents, and he ran to get closer to them; whereupon the parents ran at him with beaks ready to peck him. He turned back quickly amid much laughter by him and the parents.

Later I saw some karuhiruhi (Pied shag). They were at the limit of my ability to get sharp focus, and they kept moving at the wrong time.

This photo would have been the pick anyway, because of the patterns in the water. And the shapes formed by their necks. It's worth looking at large. The family of black swans was two parents and four immature birds. These three had come into this little area where many leaves from the surrounding trees had fallen in the water, and they were enjoying a smorgasbord. Their sibling was somewhere else, where the available food was much less.

Wellington tomorrow for a two day Council meeting.
