Uses for a vintage Obi #1

... decorate a rather dull and uninspiring cupboard.

My lovely antique treasure trove had a stash of vintage obis that were just too lovely to overlook. An obi is a long sash tied at the waist over traditional kimono. Usually made of silk with gold and silver brocade and often hand embroidered and hand painted, obis can be far more expensive than the rest of the outfit.

They make fabulous table runners and are easy to hang over a rod for a wall decoration. They can be reformed into cushion covers or throws for sofas or beds.

It makes me cross when I hear people say, 'It's so last season.' I always say, 'It's vintage.
