Head-on

The butterflies may not have discovered the two new buddleias I planted at the weekend, but the drone flies certainly have.

This one was quite drunk with delight, and wasn't going to go anywhere, despite the camera shoved in its face.

Drone flies are a kind of large hover fly - they don't come into the house and generally feed on nectar. There were two species of fly on the bush, and I'm not skilled enough to be able to ID them with any certainly.
