Flower Friday - Gem

We can't escape Mildred even on Flower Friday!! You see that thread going off  from mid to the left top of the image?  Well, that's one of Mildred's guide lines.  Poor Milly - I did her a real disservice yesterday.  I moved a pot just a few centimetres, and totally dislodged her major guide line.

Poor love, she's been fast asleep all day, because she had to do major repairs overnight, and set up new guides and a massive wheel.

I promise I shall take more care in future.

In the meantime, this is one of our tiny bushland gems.  It's not native to South Australia, but comes from that mecca of all bush flowers, Western Australia.  Here in Adelaide, it's grown in pots where we can better replicate its growing conditions.  Named after William Dampier (1652-1715), a buccaneer who collected some Australian plants which are still preserved in the British Museum at Oxford.

Edit:  Oops - forgot to say the name of the flower - it's Dampiera diversifolia - no common name as far as I am aware.
