Look Carefully

You might be distracted by the wild sky or the high tide, but it's really the seagulls that we are watching. Each of them has a ball. The one in the stream is carrying a hard rubber ball, and the one on shore has a tattered tennis ball. Apparently these are hot items on the beach, as the birds were continually fighting over them. It gets better. These two would each carry a ball to the top of the little sand bar and release it so that it would roll down the hill. Then they hopped after it, picked it up with their beak (not an easy task), walked up the slope and dropped it down to roll again. Two birds, each doing the same thing over and over. It was so funny to watch. And were they really playing or were they just having trouble hanging on to something so out of their food chain? I know what I'd vote for.

Oh, and the sky was a continual show as well--bits of rainbows, layer upon layer of variously shaped clouds, and under it all the promise of a blue sky.
