Messy Eater

The chaffinch was taking a break from loudly proclaiming his territory to scoff some bread. Here is the evidence on his face. His song is quite the loudest of the small birds. It's a real ear-splitter up close. Fringilla coelebs. Introduced to New Zealand 1862 and later.

Another cool, wet day. Everything was covered in big droplets that magnified the petals, but I didn’t find anything new.
