A Meandering Life...

By Skeena

Once upon a time...

... there were two little cottages that lived in my road.

They where built by the same man and after he died his wife continued to live in this one until last year. Due to a motorbike accident when they were courting she lost the ability to smell so he never laid gas to their cottage.

They are the oldest houses in the road, have a small plot of land with an oak tree or two in the open gardens.

A few years ago the other cottage was sold and hugely extended from its two bedrooms to what must be a five bed mansion. Only the little front can be seen these days.

When the old lady died her children couldn't keep it even though they were born in it nearly 60 years ago.

As you can see it is now being greatly enlarged. Soon only the little front will be left.

Times change, folk want bigger homes these days, with gas and other luxuries. It's a shame this little cottage couldn't have been kept as it was but if you're willing to pay nearly £500,000 for a little two bedroom dewelling...

In a way this is a pre-pre-MM for Change. So many changes this coming week so it might be hard getting them all in!
