Foggy day by the river

Sunday
Dense and persistent fog was the forecast for today and they were certainly right! There was a slight frost on the car when we went out to go to church, and the fog was thick, though it was slightly lighter by the time we got into Fontainebleau - a little further away from the River Seine. You could make out the sun behind the fog, and we hoped that maybe by the time we got out of church, the fog would be lifting. However, it looked much the same as we left church, and as before the fog got thicker as we approached the river. After a bit of lunch we went for a bracing walk by the river on the Samois side, which is where my blip was taken, showing the bridge over to Ile des Barbiers in Samois. The far side of the river is totally obliterated by the fog. This evening was our service of lessons and carols at church, so we had to be back there by 5.30, to run through music with the singing group before the service at 6.30. The service was fairly well attended, though maybe not quite as well as we had hoped for, and was followed by mulled wine and mince pies - certainly helped put us in the Christmas spirit. Unfortunately, on our return home, Roger heard through a phone call with his Dad, that one of his Dad's brothers is in hospital and not expected to live much longer, so understandably his Dad was very upset.
