Constructions

By the hands of man
our lives can be enriched and
sometimes challenged too

We were off to the downtown this morning to pick up a few things at a hardware store, investigate a cell phone service and have our favourite burgers and fries for lunch. We were successful in all categories.

On the route home we stopped by one of the canals near Interstate 8. There is truly an incredible network of canals throughout this area that creates the garden paradise that is Yuma. These canals bring life to all the agricultural industry here. It all depends on water. Unlike other places I've visited in the world, these canals are not used for recreation. It does happen, from time to time, that a dead body is found in a canal.

One of the local communications companies has a block of satellite dishes installed in rows. These change their positions periodically. Sometimes they look like a collection of suncatchers. Sometimes they look like sunhats.

In this same area is a milk plant that is highly secured. I was quite surprised to see razor wire coiled along the top of their gauge wire fencing. Perhaps the food industry cannot be too careful these days. Terrorism is such a threat in our times.
