Athens Day One

Well, I tell you what, Athens is gorgeous.

We spent all day just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere and letting the city guide us. From the panoramic views at the Akropolis, through the charming streets of Plaka, and onto the gardens by the Agora, every sight and sound was soaked up by eyes and ears starved of a bit of civilised cosmopolitan culture. This is a city that knows how to do city, if you know what I mean. Find of the day was 'Larissa Station' in the northern part of the city which we found after a bit of hopping around on the excellent Metro system.

We even managed to find ourselves walking along in a religious procession with a group candle-holding Jesus-types before we managed to sneak off to get a taxi back to the hotel*. I resisted the urge to video it.

Here are some snippets of the day with some of the sights and sounds I was telling you about:

---> Splat!
---> Peaceful chimes
---> The Parthenon
