Plus ça change...

Hanging in the balance

With the shops open again, today was a work day: grass seed, weedkiller, pool chemicals, modem and silicon sealant to buy and use... And of course some rope to repair the broken swing. So, you see on the right the remaining swing from the original set with its attractive, but breakable rope. And on the left my massively overengineered replacement. Given that the plastic seat is a bit broken too, it's a bit pointless. As you can see, I have wrapped some of the old broken rope around the new plastic rope, to hold the ends in and make it safer and more comfortable for little hands.

Rain forecast tomorrow, so got the grass seed down quick and have postponed the weedkilling.

With Mr B back in London, he was able to relay the rather lovely news that Newcastle secured promotion, and the predictable news that the General Election is in a month. I'm faintly depressed about the whole thing. Wonder if I could persuade our local council to put on some proper hustings - that might liven things up a bit.

And, as you might have gathered, the new modem is working rather well. Thanks to a long and (for her) tedious call with Orange France. In fact, it's much better than the old one and even works on the top floor of the house, whereas the old one only really worked within about a 6 metre radius of the modem on the ground floor. It is a bit slower up here though, so you're getting off lightly with only a couple of backblips - more to follow tomorrow:

Thursday: grand voyage
Friday: how stupid am I?
Saturday: Warning: this blip mentions sunbathing
