The American goldfinch...

...is singing his heart out to celebrate the sunny, blue sky day! And what a beautiful day it was. The ducks, warblers, and other migratory birds were all flitting around, enjoying the weather. I got some great pictures of the little ducklings and discovered two duck families swimming around in the bog. Last week there was only one family of 10 or so ducklings (They're hard to count because they don't hold still). Today there was a second family of 12 or 13 ducklings. I will probably blip them again another day, but if you want to see the pictures I got today, they are here. A warning though: the cuteness factor is over the top!

Tonight we had a brief, but very loud, thunder storm, and, between 7 pm and 9 pm, the temperature dropped from 81 degrees to 61 degrees. The prediction for the weekend, and for Saturday's celebration of migratory bird day, is not promising. Here, along the south shore of Lake Erie, migratory bird day is a big occasion. In the spring, birds migrating north to Canada make a stop over here for a rest before they fly across the lake. The birders (twitchers I think some people call them) revel in this opportunity to see all the birds that are only here for a short period of time.

That's it for tonight, Blippers. I'm heading to bed.
