A slice of Lesley's life

Doing a good job

Indeed the wide-brimmed sunhat is doing such a good job that Anna's face is not lit in any of the pictures I took. Oh well. I quite like this summery snap anyway.

Gorgeously, amazingly, summertastic day here. Kids cycled to school and after nursery Anna and I picnicked in the park. Home for a meeting in the garden with WestPlay about our forthcoming street party.

WestPlay are an amazing organisation who mainly run mobile playgrounds after school in areas where there aren't any. They also support street parties like ours with lots of play equipment for the kids and the running of games. Unfortunately this will be last year they can support us. Not surprisingly services such as these can't survive shallow cuts, let alone any deep ones. This isn't a rant - I've always been a little uncertain that their funding and resources should be heading our way anyway. Though apparently supporting street parties such as ours helps them meet their quotas which helps them secure funding,so...

Anyway, they do a most excellent job.

As did our quiz team last night. We came a perfect 1 point behind the winners. A very odd experience to be so disincentivised from winning and yet naturally competitive and not able to stop wanting to. Anyway, a great result and an excellent night. Have to say, the best quiz night I have been to and we've picked up some top tips for our own New Year effort.

Off to school pick-up and then chambermaiding as I meet the bedding needs of 5 children and 3 adults who are sleeping over here whilst menfolk go hunting a stag in the West Country.

I predict this good job will be rewarded with a glass of something pink and fizzy in the garden later.

Hurrah for sunny Fridays!
