fantastically flavor filled

it seems the second most difficult thing about moving to alpena (after the fact that i moved to a place where i knew no one) has been the lack of access to really great food. i will be the first to say it, this winter and spring i was extremely spoiled in what i ate. thankfully, this past weekend's trip to ann arbor has my fridge and shelves filled with delicious wonders. amazing bread and cheeses, unique spicy greens, sunflower sprouts, my favorite michel cluizel chocolate bar. it's like a little slice of heaven right here in my kitchen.

so this afternoon, i whipped up the most scrumptious of snacks. a dense italian bread filled with whole cloves of roasted garlic, toasted and smothered in zingermans creamery's city goat (an amazing fresh goat cheese), and topped with a few leaves of freshly picked basil. perfection.
