The Lozarithm Lens

Poppy

This poppy is part of the same clump of poppies that I blipped yesterday, although it is a different type. It is also a darker, more crimson colour, but it hasn't photographed in its true shade at all. No longer at its best, I think it is in an interesting state of decay.

As much as I love my Lumix compact for its portability, its flexibility, its super lens and numerous shooting modes and effects, I am the kind of photographer who needs to be able to look through a viewfinder to frame a shot; and there are some photographs you just can't attempt with a compact that you can with a DSLR.

So I have missed my K-x, currently being appraised for water damage, so much that I have ordered a second-hand camera body to use while I await a prognosis, and it arrived this afternoon. My excuse is that it well be a very useful back-up camera to have in the event that I do get my K-x back. I took a small batch of shots with it late this afternoon after studying the manual and setting it up, and this is the first result.
