Swimming Against The Tide

Hundred Thousand

Arriving home from yesterday's prom, we parked the car at home with the mileage 099999 showing on the odometer! Our faithful car had almost reached a great milestone in his life!

Therefore, it only took part of a short trip into town to push the numbers over to 100000 - and it was, obviously, the thing to blip today!

We got our car when he'd only done 18000 miles, so most of the 100000 have been driven by me. He's my third car, and the first to reach such a milestone - the previous two both died in their nineties - one of "needing a grand's worth of welding to get through his MOT" and the other of "terminal head gasket failure and needing a new engine"!

As a congratulations present I'm going to buy him a service & MOT next week!

Other than that, it was the first day of our holiday today. Not going away, just chilling out at home. Unfortunately the chilling was interrupted by a rather stressful vet visit - Athena needed a blood test to determine what's going on with her thyroid, which was obviously rather traumatic for her. Tiggy misbehaved APPALLINGLY, swearing, hissing and being a generally unpleasant animal. Felix was the star of the show - he allowed the vet to manhandle him and had his annual booster jab without bother! Pebbles didn't need the vet so was left home alone to watch the TV!

Once home, Felix went back to the tree he likes to sleep under, Tiggy was read the riot act and told to think hard about her behaviour, Athena curled up round the pedals of the piano, myself and the Wonderspouse both fell asleep on our sofas, and Pebbles wondered what all the hullaballoo was about!
