God bless the bothy!

What a great day! Iseabail, Bob, Dimairt, myself and Bruno (Iseabail's young collie) set off for Ivor's bothy, about 3 miles of quite hard walking along the coast past the Lighthouse. What an amazing place.

It is maintained by the estate which owns the land, and from time to time, local builders are sent out to repair the roof, or seal the windows. The many people who visit it throughout the year have helped to maintain the outside and the inside as well.

You know, the "dresser" which you can see to the right of Iseabail and Bruno, contains an amazing array of stuff to help passsing walkers - tins of soup, herbs and spices, books, maps, midge repellent (Avon Skin so Soft!), candles, instant meals, cans of lager, whisky and everything for cooking and lighting the fire, including kindling, firelighters and coal!

OK - so there is much evidence of wee mice who have also made their home here, but can you imagine how wonderful this place would be if you were cold, hungry and desperate for shelter? This place restores your faith in human nature, being full of stuff left by the unthanked to help others unknown.
