Good wth curry

Carl's mum had a hip replacement operation on Friday. I visited her this afternoon. She's in the new Beacon hospital in Sandyford, in a nice, bright spacious room. Despite only haveing the op done on friday, she'd already been out and about and walking around, today more than yesterday and on a programme to walk more and more each day. She was in good form and we had a grand old chat. I was amazed to hear that she'd been awake for the entire op, having been given an epidural. She'd been given headphones with piped music to listen, but ended up with pop rather than the relaxing classical music shed asked for. So she'd asked for the headphones to be removed and had ended up fully aware of what was going on and able to hear the sounds of the cutting and the drilling and all the rest of it. Don't think I'd fancy that, I don't.

I was hungry when I got over to Carl's place, so we ordered in some food, plumping for the always reliable Bombay Pantry. Their set meal for two seemed like good value (and was, I suppose). Nonetheeless, we were disappointed that we only got one each of three different starter as our starter platter for two, and we thought one portion of rice was a bit scabby when it had to be shared between two. The main curry courses were wonderful, though -- and Brahma beer goes down very well with a bit of curry.
