Swimming Against The Tide

Harold Prom

The Wonderspouse was still feeling utterly drained so took another day off work. We spent the day snoozing on the sofa, watching videos, and recharging batteries.

In the evening we went to the Proms again. This time the European Union Youth Orchestra were performing Tchaikovsky, Janacek and Berlioz. It was the Berlioz that had drawn me to this prom, and in particular the splendid viola playing of Maxim Rysanov.

Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet Overture took me back - it was one of my set works for O-Level music when I was at school - it was also one of the first scores for full orchestra that I knew really well. Real nostalgia!

It was a lovely evening and did us both good to do something that wasn't cat-related. However, having said that, we did discuss cats all the way there in the car and all the way home again.

We're still missing Athena terribly and grieving for her, but we're also starting to think of the future and have heard of someone who needs a home. We're very seriously considering offering him one!

No firm commitments have been made yet, since we're taking longer than usual to make decisions while we mourn Athena, but if you're interested, then watch this space!
