The Lozarithm Lens

Horton

I explored a stretch of the Kennet and Avon canal today and have had trouble choosing which is the best picture to blip. Several showed the canal and the landscape, some were of canal narrowboats, ducks, hoverflies on a blackberry bush, a butterfly and so on, and I particularly liked one of a mooring peg and some rope on the canal bank.

Finally, though, the colours of the brickwork against the green foliage, and the strong line of the curve of the bridge won out for me, and I chose this section of Horton Chain Bridge (Horton Bridge itself is a little further along) as it also belongs in my Textures and Colours series.

The Kennet and Avon Canal Company runs from Reading, where it joins the Thames, to Bath, where it joins the Bristol Avon. I have previously blipped Devizes Wharf, the Caen Hill Locks and the canal at Devizes and intend to cover other sections of it in future blippage.

Today's newspaper Elvis DVD is that masterpiece of auteur cinema (or not) Girls! Girls! Girls!

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Elvis Presley - Girls! Girls! Girls! (recorded 27 March 1962, Radio Recorders, Hollywood CA)
This Leiber/Stoller song was first recorded by the Coasters in 1961 and led an EP of songs from this rather poor movie, though it did also feature his single Return To Sender.
