Swimming Against The Tide

The Wonderspouse had taken the day off work as we were off on our travels. We didn't get up particularly late as it was a seriously busy day!

After breakfast we went into the vets to collect Athena's ashes and to start to settle up our rather large bill for her care. Fortunately they're very understanding about not paying it all at once and about taking bits off different credit cards!

We're so pleased to have her ashes home. They're in a lovely wooden casket with her name on, and there's enough space in there to put the fur I cut from her just after she died. It felt like she was "coming home" to be with us for the final time.

Then we set off on a rather longer journey - to Ipswich, ultimately to collect Smudge. We'd booked a night in the Novotel there since we decided (wisely) that driving there and back in a day would be too much. The journey there is around 4 hours from us, and not on especially good roads either!

Ipswich turned out to be a great place. We walked along the waterfront, were I took this picture, then ventured into town where we found lots of fun shops to browse and had a coffee!

Another wise decision was to get bread and bits from a supermarket for supper. I was so exhausted that I fell asleep within about 20 minutes of eating a sandwich!
