American Signal Crayfish at Work

The place where I work is near a river. At some point someone thought it was a good idea to introduce the American Signal Crayfish into this river system.

This is not great as they are know to pretty much destroy anything native in their wake, such as snails, fish, native crayfish and even their own and then pretty much take over everything in site ruining it for everything else.

They and their actions remind me of a holiday in Ibiza I once had the misfortune to go on. Not a jot of culture left, taken over by an alien like species that destroy everything and are unwanted by the natives, but that species were not American!
