Birthday boy

Today was a special day - the 24th birthday of our eldest son, Guy.

But it was the first time one of our children had not been at home for their big day, which made a tiny bit sad.

Nevertheless, we toasted his health with some wine, chatted to him on the phone and pored over the old photo albums showing him just a few days after his birth.

I know it's a cliche, but it seems like yesterday. I can clearly remember buying the teddy bear in the picture, heading down to the Barratt Maternity Home in Northampton and popping it in his cot.

Today he's in London in the final stages of a job before he begins an MA at Cambridge.

He's made the very best of his 24 years.
