The last piece of cake

Our regular Wednesday walk of the "Friends of Haltwhistle Rings" was a 10 mile circular from Fourstones. It was a beautiful day, despite the adverse forecast, and we enjoyed the gentle farming landscape and views of the South Tyne Valley.

We climbed through the hills to Hadrian's Wall, stopping at the place where Nancy died. This happened on a walk about 3 years ago. Pat read out one of Nancy's poems, all about walking with the group. It was just perfect, and hardly a dry eye in the house.

After the walk Pam and Pat entertained us to a lovely tea in their garden. Since I've had two cake blips recently, I thought I would continue my series with this. The Victoria sandwich cake was very popular, but towards the end people started to cut small pieces off. No one wanted to be the person who took that last piece of cake!!!
