Drive to Chennai

We started on our road trip to Pondicherryvearly morning 6 AM. We were well prepared with maps and the car was serviced and fuel tank filled for the drive. The weather in Hyderabad was beautifully cool and rainy. We would take a route through the Nagarajuna Sagar Dam and past the Ethipothalla falls. We reached Nagarjuna Sagar just in time for breakfast and ate at the AP Tourism resort. To my surprise this resort was very well maintained and very beautiful. What was better is the cafeteria overlooked the Krishna river from behind the dam.

We continued our journey and found the dams gates hadn't been opened yet and this part of the state was dry and hot. We decided to stop at the falls on the way and it was really beautiful. Since we were early there was no one around and I liked it that way. Took a few shots there and moved on the rest of the journey. We managed with the printed map and asking people. Then at a point I discovered that Google maps on my phone worked really well and could tell me the approx. location with simple triangulation. The drive was simply splendid and the highway was really great except for in parts. We would stay the night at my aunt's in Chennai and go on to Pondicherry the next day.

Nearing Chennai the highway was completely packed with trucks and we began inching from 6 PM to reach their home at 8. But all the way except for the last bit had been superb.
