Carson Pass

A group of Mormon settlers came through Hope Valley in the mid 1800s on their way to California. This is one of 3 passes that rise up over 8,000 feet (2838.4 meters). Instead of settling in this beautiful valley which could support cattle grazing and provide all the necessary game including streams and lakes bountiful of trout, the group camped only to catch their breath and then moved on to California.

As I said previously, I think I was born 100 years too late. I would have built a home and settled forever, providing homage and rest for those on their way to California.

A truly beautiful spot in the world, captured shortly after sunrise.

Enjoy!
