Lake Tahoe

A photo taken on the west side of Lake Tahoe near Sugar Pine Point State Park. Lake Tahoe speaks for itself in beauty and bounty.

At an altitude of 6,229 feet (1898.6 meters), it is the highest and largest alpine lake in North America. The lake measures 22 miles long by 12 miles wide. It supports a population of more than 34,000 permanent dwellers - this includes at least a dozen full-on casinos and hotels on the east side and north end, (Nevada). It does provide a stateline boundary between California and Nevada.

It is 99.9% pure mountain water that goes as deep as 1,645 feet (501.4 meters) with an average depth of 989 feet (301.5 metes)!

and... it is absolutely beautiful!

Please enjoy!
